The very mention of Japan alarms us that the talk about their new invention is about to begin. And yah, I am right! This time it’s a unique humanoid robot that is produced to provide a helping hand in your household chores. Identified as Twendy-One, this 147-centimetre tall (four-foot-10) robot made up of pure white body with blue eyes and red arm joints is active enough to perform his duties perfectly. His culinary skills were tested by his being of a great help to an elderly person by cooking food or serving it to guests. While conversing with the person, this 111-kgm (244-pound) robot used his four fingers to pick the tomato sauce from the refrigerator and dropped it on the breakfast table. Also, he picked up a piece of bread and served it to the person.
The built-in sensors and stretchy joints allows robot soak up likely shocks if it bumps into users. The robot is developed by Tokyo’s elite Waseda University and its name is an ellipsis derived from Waseda Engineering Designed Symbiont. The robot is expected to hit the market in 2015.
