Find it hard to believe, but it is true that the recession is affecting even the blue blooded now. From what we hear, the Queen of England has also decided to cut down her forever increasing travel costs by having a £3 million worth private plane of her own. This aircraft shall carry only the royal family and none of the ministers are invited.
We are informed that as of now two planes from 32 Squadron at RAF Northolt are at the beck and call of the royal family. However, they are both 20 years old and are a bit unreliable. Perhaps, that is the reason why the Queen is insisting on a new one. It is Sir Alan Reid’s job to see if it’s financially viable to make this wish come true.
The final decision will be taken only by March next year, so until then the Queen will travel in the comforts of a chartered plane only. Insiders reveal that the Queen has a thrifty nature, so the guys handling the finances are naturally concerned. By the way, her Majesty will soon be taking delivery of a new Sikorsky chopper for a massive £500,000 a year lease just to attend to her business rendezvous alone.
