The Greenbrier has been a popular holiday destination for over two centuries. Families from around the world have visited the Greenbrier. And now The Greenbrier is taking a remarkable initiative to give back to the world. Jim Justice, the owner of the resort and The Greenbrier team have come together and announced the “Create a Dream Tree for Kids” holiday gift drive. The aim is to donate $1 million in toys and clothes to charity. About twenty percent will be in the form of apparels for adults but the rest will be toys and clothing for children.
They are open to offers of support from other charitable organizations and have requested them to register online on their site before December 2, 2011. Jim Justice believes that ideally every child should have something to open on Christmas morning. Particularly for families who are struggling to get by each day it would be a thrilling experience to have gifts on Christmas morning to open. Jim and the Greenbrier hopes that the gifts bring happiness and hope to those that need it most.
The preparation for the gifts drive is on full swing and the retail team of the resort has already purchased over 9,000 toys including Adora Wizard of Oz dolls, ride-on toys, oversized stuffed animals and remote-controlled helicopters. Becky Hogan, from the resort’s toy store, Fizzy’s Land of Oz said that everyone in the organization is excited about the drive. They are offering three options to those who want to help. Every purchase from the “Dream Tree” from Fizzy’s Land of Oz or My Sister’s Circus – the resort’s children’s apparel shop, and apportion of the price will go towards supporting the drive. You could donate an item from the resort’s retail shop or make a donation in the form of cash or a check.
