The Virgin Galactic Spaceport headquarters are located in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. Richard Branson has plans for Virgin hotels in the US. There have been several rumors doing the rounds in this matter but no official confirmation so far. The Independent has recently quoted Richard Branson indicating that he would like to begin with a property overlooking the still under construction Spaceport. Branson also reportedly said that San Diego and Washington D.C. will be big targets for Virgin Hotel outposts.
San Francisco, which was earlier rumored to be the first choice, will have to wait to get the Virgin Hotel treatment. Though, it is rather premature at this stage as the unrolling of the brand in the US market is still two years away. Things might change on the way as the plans firm up. Branson, in the mean time is creating some hype about his brand in his inimitable style.
According to the report in the Independent Branson did not reveal any specific features in the proposed hotels but said that each hotel will be unique and aimed to make the properties the ‘funnest’ the guests have ever encountered. Branson has always talked about translating the Virgin Airline experience to his hotels. We will have to wait for the first property to open in New Mexico.
