Stephenie Meyer Grabs the Second Spot on Forbes List Without Writing a Book

Stephenie Meyer is the fastest rising author in the highest paid authors list. As per the reports carried by Forbes, the popular author of sexy vampire tales “Twilight” raked in an eye-popping $40 million. The best part is that she has achieved this without releasing any new book in the last one year. Meyer has been placed second on the magazine’s new ranking of the world’s highest paid authors.

Meyer has eclipsed, rather easily, the Harry Potter creator J K Rowling who was the highest paid female author ever. In the year 2009 Meyer received a total of $7 million from the movies adapted from the Twilight series. Most of her balance substantial earnings came from previously published books. The movies based on her books have been rather successful. In June the third Twilight adaptation made $175 million in its first six days of screening.

Meyer came a far away second to James Patterson who grabbed the top spot on the list with a staggering $70 million earnings for the year. Patterson has been working hard to retain the top spot as he is contracted to produce 17 more books by the end of 2012. Stephen King is not very far from Meyer with earning of $34 million and is placed third on the list. The surprise of the list is the last name which is J K Rowling who earned a measly, in comparison, $10 million. We must not forget that she is already a billionaire.
