Duty free shopping has always come up with innovative ideas to encourage international passengers to shop at the airport while traveling. Heinemann Duty Free at the Hamburg Airport has also come up with its own campaign to target the men. They have placed a 1959 Porsche on display at its Hamburg Airport store and is offering the two-seater car for sale to passengers. It is the centre piece of their campaign to attract the male shoppers.
The Porsche 356-A 1600 Convertible D is on offer for a price of 159,800 Euros. If you buy the car at the airport it will be delivered to your home by the Hamburg based vintage car dealership E Thiesen. The price might not be affordable for everyone so there are more affordable models of the Porsche. The retailer is offering a detailed, smaller model on a scale of 1:18. To make their campaign more comprehensive the store is also offering fashion and fragrances aimed at men.
Gunnar Heinemann, the co-owner of Heinemann Duty Free explained that the idea was to surprise the shopper who would never expect to see something like this at the store. Another unusual piece of merchandise at the store would be the engine of the car driven by Michael Schumacher in his first Formula One race.
