Savoy In London On VisitEngland’s ‘Green London’ Map

Global warming is convincing the world to go green. English tourist body VisitEngland has joined the battle. The group teamed up with greentraveller.co.uk and launched the first “Green London” map in late March to mark the first-ever Climate Change Week in the United Kingdom. The aim is to guide travelers through the city’s most eco-friendly businesses to encourage sustainable tourism.

The map lists out the greenest destinations within London, including restaurants, 5 star hotels, stores and tourist attractions. It also features info on how to head to some of the lesser-known attractions of London city. Created with Richard Hammond, Chief Executive and Founder of greentraveller.co.uk, the Green London map is focused on sustainable tourism.

And there is something to suit every budget. You could eat at the local markets or dine at some of the finer restaurants and pubs like The Duke of Cambridge. If you happen to looking for a green weekend on a luxury budget, you can always lodge at the Savoy in London. This 5 star Savoy Hotel reopened recently after extensive green renovations. Apart from The Savoy, tourists could also hole up in other great properties like the Zetter and the Lancaster.

Apart from where to go and what to eat, the Green London map guides users on how to move around London, access the city’s hydrogen fuel buses, hire Barclays’ bicycles and so on. The map is currently downloadable from the VisitEngland website and available at eight tourist information centers across London. VisitEngland is in the process of creating more such maps for cities across the UK.
