Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library in Simi Valley, California recently got a $15 million facelift. Housed in a mission-style building atop a bluff with spectacular views reminds you of the several Westerns that Reagan acted in. The museum was unveiled after the renovation by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation on the occasion of the former US President’s 100th birthday celebration.
The extensive exhibit here traces Reagan’s life right from his childhood to his years as a lifeguard through his careers as a sports announcer, actor, governor of California and finally the President of the United States. The museum is quite hi-tech. Apart from the 180 video screens, two teleprompters and a green screen, they now also have 250 iPod Touch, which gives an audio tour, giving background at specifically designated spots and also allows you to take photos and videos as you walk around.
The new additions to the exhibit include the navy suit worn by Reagan during the 1981 attempt on his life. Then there are ofcourse photos from his early days, clips from campaign speeches, one about his presidential campaign and his first 70 days in office, and also one on the assassination attempt. One can also see Reagan’s diaries written during his White House years. The place has everything you will need to know about Regan.
