Liquor dedicated to poetry is not a regular phenomenon. Perhaps, that is why we were surprised (and ‘pleasantly’ so) when we heard that whisky producer Isle of Arran Distillers is planning to commemorate the 250th birth anniversary of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burn with a limuted edition bottling on 25th January 2009.
Expected to cost around 50 pounds, the Robert Burns malt is expected to be appreciated by connoisseurs, collectors, posh bars as well as home drinkers who like to celebrate Burn Night, and this time we assure that it will be something even more special.
6,000 bottles of Robert Burns 250th Anniversary Malt have been produced from 15 ex-sherry casks that were especially selected from their 1998 distillation. It has been estimated that 1,800 Robert Burns bottles will be distributed across the UK. Burn Federation will also be playing a role here, ensuring each gift box carries an image as well as signature of Burns.
