Presenting The World’s Fastest Electric Bicycle: The BlackTrail

The world of electric vehicles has come a long way from demonstration concepts to fully functional cars and bikes that are fast being integrated into our daily lives. However, one of the limitations that has always discouraged potential customers from switching to electric vehicles is the fact that, they aren’t able to attain the speeds that are common with the gasoline powered cars and bikes.

Now, two German companies, PG-Bikes and carbon fiber products developer UBC have joined hands to bring out the world’s fastest electric bicycle in the form of the all new ‘BlackTrail’.  UBC is a well renowned names in the field of automotive engineering as the company has been credited with the manufacturing of parts for Formula 1 race cars and Porsche Carrera GTs. The BlackTrail is capable of reaching a top speed of 100 km/h, which is much higher than the other electric bicycles and the bike itself exults a classic look of that of a 1930s era bike and comes with a brown leather saddle and a battery cover. The BlackTrail is powered by a 1.2 kW CM48 V hybrid motor that gets is power from an onboard 48-volt lithium-ion battery and the bike is more than capable of charging 80% of its energy levels in 30 minutes, while a complete recharges takes a little more than an hour and a half.

The body of BlackTrail is made from high-alloyed aluminum, titanium and magnesium and the bike comes with a combined weight of 19.8 kgs, The BlackTrail is said to have a price tag of an astounding $75,460 and the manufactures have decided to make on 667 pieces of this unique bicycle.
