New York Nostalgia

New York landed gentry bespoke work from some of the endowed French designers and architects during the 1930s and 1940s, creating a diary of delicate structural design along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. Enthused by this affluent era, S. T. Dupont has conjured up an inheritance of its own in the New York Fifth Avenue collection. Roughly 160 hours are invested to produce each $2,400 taupe- and chocolate-colored lacquer fountain pen that is hand painted with pale-gold featuring a globe design stimulated by the 1936 figurine of Atlas at Rockefeller Center. Its openwork clip along with 18-karat-gold nib further augments the design keeping the true spirit of French art de vivre. Counted 1,929 pieces are produced to honor the year Lucien Tissot Dupont, son of S. T. Dupont’s founder, first came from France to New York.
