NBA star Dwayne Wade is the latest sportsperson to join the luxury fashion bandwagon. The basketball player looks set to bring fashion to the jock crowd with his new $20,000 luxury watch for Hublot. The Miami Heat player is not alone among sports stars to dabble in high-end fashion. Others like Tom Brady and Sean Avery have previously promoted and created high-fashion brands and products.
The new watch that carries the Dwayne Wade branding goes by the name of Hublot King Power “D-Wade” watch. Wade had revealed that he wanted “basketball characteristics” on this luxury timepiece. So the black ceramic watch with red detailing boasts of basketball-net stitches and a “basketball effect” of the dial. And since this is the Dwayne Wade watch, the Miami Heat player’s jersey number is etched on the back. Wade is among the more stylish players on the basketball scene. Some time ago he had said, “I love fashion,” – an unexpected statement from a jock. He also revealed that he tries to “pick the brains of people who are great at fashion”.
The basketball player takes great interest in his personal style. Most often, he is spotted in Yves Saint Laurent suits, because he can wear them from right off the racks. That is quite a luxury for the tall, 220-pound athlete with a 44 as his shoe size. Wade and teammate Lebron James have acquired the reputation of being style icons in recent years. His clothing choices are largely made by stylist Calyann Barnett, but Wade appears to be a good dresser even when he is left on his own.
