The penthouse atop the Pierre Hotel has come to the market with an asking price of a record $125 million. It beats the record of One57 Penthouse which was considered the most expensive listing ever in Manhattan at $110 million. Penthouse in the Pierre Hotel building has broken the record by a decent margin. Spread over three floor the penthouse occupies the 41st, 42nd and the 43rd floors of the building.
The Triplex Penthouse Features 16 Rooms
The penthouse is currently in the name of late investor Martin Zweig. It offers beautiful 360-degree views of Manhattan, Central Park, the Hudson and East Rivers. It is a landmark building and the distinctive penthouse is visible from far. The triplex penthouse features a total of sixteen rooms including five bedrooms. The penthouse also has six full baths and three half baths. It boasts of five working fireplaces and separate dedicated area for guests and staff. The penthouse is serviced by a private elevator. However, the greatest advantage the penthouse enjoys is that it is located within one of world’s greatest hotels and that’s why it would be really difficult to find a similar property.
Zweig Had Bought the Penthouse in 1999 for $21.5 Million
The listing price of $125 million does not include the existing furnishings in the penthouse and the fine art that Zweig had on the walls. Pierre Hotel was converted into a co-op in 1959 by Paul J Getty who had bought the hotel in 1938. Zweig had bought the penthouse in 1999 for only $21.5 which was also a record price at the time. The interior of the penthouse has been inspired by the Palace of Versailles. In fact, the living room is considered the most magnificent privately owned room in the world.
