Sir Stirling Moss had made a three wheeler popular long ago. Morgan, a British car manufacturer is building a new three-wheeler in a recreation of the classic model once driven by Sir Stirling Moss after a gap of almost 60 years. The Worcestershire firm was established 100 years ago and it is creating the Morgan Three Wheeler to mark its centenary. Morgans were once considered the coolest things on road. It was the first car Sir Stirling drove legally on the road. Brigitte Bardot, Queen Noor of Jordan and Ralph Lauren have been proud owners of a Morgan.
In 1968 Mick Jagger, the face and voice of the Rolling Stones used a yellow Morgan to drive to the Old Bailey from his home for the trial for possession of drugs. There have been many rumours in the market about the proposed three wheeler. Jill Price, the sister of the owner, confirmed the report to members of the Morgan Three Wheeler Club on Saturday.
The new cars are expected to be built in Malvern once more and to feature a modern 1,100cc or 1,000cc v-twin version of the original JA Prestwich engine which is likely to be built by the local specialists Cameron Engineering. It is expected to reach a top speed of 100mph on the road. The expected price of the new vehicle is estimated to be around £46,000.
