The Montblanc TimeWalker TwinFly Chronograph with titanium case and black DLC coating has been created to celebrate 190 years of the chronograph movement. Like the Montblanc special edition pens this watch is a fine example of the company’s competence and skills and its manufacturing facilities at Le Locle. They now make the watch movement in house and have high end skills in design and engineering. This column-wheel chronograph is amongst the most popular in its genre. The TwinFlyback function makes it clearly superior to the others in the category. The titanium case model has been released in a limited edition of 300 but the stainless steel version will have an unlimited run.
There has been a strong demand for mechanical chronographs and Montblanc created the chronograph Calibre MB LL100, a self-winding movement, to meet that demand. A traditional column wheel controls the stopwatch mechanism. It is a must for high end horology but tricky to manufacture with perfection. The vertical disk coupling generates very little friction, thus reducing wear and tear. The watch features a date window at the 9 o’clock position and a 24-hour subdial at 12. It shows the time in a second zone and also indicates whether it is day or night there.
The outermost periphery of the dial allows the user to read elapsed seconds on the quarter-seconds scale. The button at 4 o’clock position activates the two large and central axial hands to fly back to their zero position and begin measuring a new interval. This is why it is called TwinFly. Double barrel stores power sufficient to run the watch for 72 hours. The Montblanc luxury chronograph is 43mm in diameter and the titanium case comes with a scratch resistant DLC coating. The back of the case is equipped with a transparent sapphire crystal. The strap is crafted from alligator leather.
