Missoni, the Italian fashion house has established itself as designers of stylish hotels. In fact they have recently signed an agreement with a developer in Manila to design an apartment block with stylish condos. They have recently opened their new hotel in Kuwait. It is not a location where you would normally expect a designer hotel but that’s what makes the property that much more exciting and a novelty for the entire region. The affluence and the high per capita income make the residents natural consumers of luxury who are now receptive to fashion and style.
The design hotel has very distinct elements that are identifiable as Missoni specialty. The design and the look are heavily inspired by the signature colors and patterns of the brand. The color combination and the theme is consistent throughout the hotel. In fact some people might find it a bit too colorful and even gaudy but one must admit that it creates a very positive and lively atmosphere. Rosita Missoni, the hotel’s Creative Director explained that theme has been inspired by the Arabian Gulf and Kuwaiti culture.
Almost 10 million individual mosaic tiles have been used to create the signature zig-zag stripes throughout the property. Apart from the stripes many colors and patterns have been used to create a stylish and lively atmosphere. It is surely a very unusual property for a city like Kuwait and the novelty is bound to attract the residents. Missoni has several other hotel properties in the pipeline and this Kuwaiti property is any example we are sure to get many pleasant surprises in the future.
