Memorial Cruise to Coincide with 100 Years of Titanic Disaster

It is a memorial cruise that some might find ghastly but at the same time some might find exciting. The maiden journey of Titanic was undertaken exactly hundred years ago in the month of April. Because of the movie Titanic the century old disaster is still top of the mind for the current generation. To leverage that connect with the historic event an identical itinerary has been drawn and MS Balmoral will set sail from Southampton, England, retracing the RMS Titanic’s original itinerary. It was a hundred years ago on the night of April 14th 1912 that Titanic hit the iceberg.

MS Balmoral will set sail from Southampton on April 8, 2012 for a 12 night journey. It will follow the same route that Titanic had taken and arrive at the site of the iceberg disaster between April 14 and 15. It was at 2.20 on the morning of April 15, 1912 that the Titanic sank and exactly 100 years to the date a memorial service will be held on MS Balmoral while cruising around the same location. The cruise has become significant because of its timing.

The ship will then move on to Nova Scotia and then head to New York, where the Titanic was originally planning to dock 100 years ago. The travel plan of the Titanic Memorial Cruise has been talked about a lot in the media. The Daily Mail which carried a detailed report about the proposed memorial cruise said that Miles Morgan Travel is handling the bookings. However, the journey from Southampton to New York is completely booked. The next best thing you can do is book yourself on the return journey from New York. There is still room available with the prices starting at $4,000. You could visit their site for more details and exact dates.
