Maserati Finds A New Vocation In Pushbikes

The global economic meltdown has shown us many unexpected turns like Bentley venturing into furniture production. Here is yet another news of weird products from carmakers. Last week’s Geneva Motor Show had some changes at the Maserati stand. We spotted a simple pedal-powered bicycle! Yes, the brand’s commitment to create zero-emissions has gone a step further (or backwards) with this new bike that flaunts superb construction.

Carrying the name Maserati, you can well expect this one to be different from the rest of the bandwagon. Built in steel, aluminum and carbon-fiber, this bicycle is great both for sports enthusiasts as well as for regulars looking for some comfort bicycling. There are two models to choose from. Veloce is for speed and racing while Turismo is fir for leisurely purposes.

The Maserati trademarks are visible here too. The traditional dark blue livery looks good with the company logo. There are five different sizes to choose from. The starting price is €3,000 and goes on to €6,000. We can see the smile on the faces of environmentalists and petrol heads who will be very pleased with Maserati’s decision to go ahead and lend its name to a bicycle.
