The 25 year old twins of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen make a great team and have achieved a lot and established themselves as serious players in the luxury segment in a relatively short time. They have been able to position and price their creations perfectly to retain their luxurious appeal and yet generate the sales volumes to become commercially successful. Their latest creation is a luxury handbag collection under their fashion label the Row. It is a nine bag line that they have tried to make as comprehensive as possible so that everyone can find something of their interest.
The new luxury line of handbag includes a day tote, backpack, doctor bag and shoulder bag. The collection which is scheduled to be launched from the Barneys department store at New York in August is made from the best materials available. The bags will be made exclusively from python and alligator processed to a very fine finish. While talking about the upcoming collection Ashley revealed that she is influenced by different eras whereas Mary-Kate focuses on the repeating trends and how to incorporate them in their new designs.
The trends repeat themselves too often. The trick is to recognize the trend and connect to the right references at the right time. Harvey Nichols, an important luxury department store that also stocks the Row because of its wide appeal. Averyl Oates, buying director for the chain believes that the success of the twins lies in their timeless generational appeal. Another feather in the siblings cap was dressing the first lady Michelle Obama. Lauren Hutton who has also worked with the brand believes that their designs are not superficial and have a crystal clear DNA and that’s what appeals to their large customer base.
