History repeats itself and similarly old trends come back to become current craze. The 1920s seems to be flavor of the season and all things from the era is finding favor with the consumer. The latest to emerge as a craze is jazz clubs in luxury hotels. The bars and lounges in luxury hotels are transforming themselves into Mecca of live music. The trend has caught on across the world and if you are an international traveler you must check out the following five extending from New Orleans to Shanghai.
Bar on Fifth, The Setai Fifth Avenue
This sleek jazz bar is located inside the Setai, a Forbes Travel Guide Four Star hotel. Antonio Ciacca the resident artist is backed by Jazz performers including Justin Echols, Orrin Evans for nightly performances. The ambience is right out of 1920s including the cocktail list. After work lingerers form the bulk of the clientele. On Sundays the music is oriented towards a younger audience. Tunes With Tina series is an interactive jazz concert for children—it even includes a kid’s cabaret menu.
Regattabar, The Charles Hotel
The Charles Hotel hosts one of the few true jazz clubs left in Boston. Regattabar is almost two decades old and residents of Cambridge will vouch for its high entertainment quotient. The traditional jazz bar can seat 220 guests in a dimly lit venue. Musicians visit the bar year round. Regattabar has revived its annual Jazz Festival this year. Renowned artists like Freddy Cole and Luciana Souza will be playing in special shows through June 30.
Davenport Lounge, The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans
The Ritz Carlton, New Orleans is one of their best properties and the Davenport Lounge in the hotel is one of the classiest venues in the city. With cushy armchairs, chandeliers and ornamental moldings it is the jazziest jazz bar in the city. Jazz trumpeter Jeremy Davenport leads the musicians playing in the bar. He and his band play regularly every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Feinstein’s at Loews Regency Hotel, New York
The jazz bar is named after pianist and singer Michael Feinstein. If you are lucky you might still see him perform occasionally. This exclusive jazz bar has hosted performers including Alan Cumming, Cindy Lauper and Jason Mraz on its stage. The bar has introduced a new Late Set series features young artists. The menu offers entrées and small plates to go along with the show.
The Jazz Bar, Fairmont Peace Hotel
The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai hosts one of the oldest Jazz bars in China. It was originally a private club but has transformed itself into a sophisticated Jazz bar where the 1920s come alive. The cocktail list and the menu also reflect the same era. Theo Croker, an American is the lead musician who performs with his sextet.  The bar also has an Old Jazz Band who have six musicians with an average age of 77. After all old is gold and the saying fits very well with jazz music.
