Gwyneth Paltrow is set to be the new face of American brand Coach Inc. Outside the United States that is. The US-based company that is known for its leather wallets and handbags is now looking to extend its reach outside its American base. The company’s creative director is hoping to make this high-selling American luxury brand a big seller on the global front as well. The campaign with Paltrow will thus be targeting these markets.
The Paltrow campaign will include print and outdoor ads as well as digital promos. The customers that Coach’s creative director Reed Krakoff is targeting are based in select markets of Asia and Europe, including China, France, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Expect the luxury brand to play up its American quotient. And it certainly does not get more American that New York girl Paltrow. The Hollywood actor herself admitted that she has always considered Coach “the quintessential New York brand” and that she will never forget her first Coach bag.
Krakoff admitted to zeroing in on Paltrow because “She embodies the spirit, energy and elegance of the Coach brand.” This appointment is a preview of things to come as the handbag brand launches its 70th anniversary celebrations. Coach has brought on board fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh to shoot the ads featuring Paltrow. The venue is the rooftop of a New York City building.
The new campaign will be another feather in Paltrow’s cap. Of late, the actor has been in experimental mode. She appeared in Glee, released a country music album and released a cookbook. And now as the global face of Coach, she is ready to turn more heads.
