If you look at the numbers closely you will be amazed to see that the number of bags that are sold every year far outnumber the total female population of the world. Women seem to have an inexplicable obsession with bags. The luxury brands and the designers also keep churning out collection after collection with fair amount of success. This year again the new collections are in place and the consumers are waiting for them in anticipation. The accessories are simply amazing next season. Marc Jacobs is exploring different fetishes and the resultant designs are dramatic to say the least.
The bags are no doubt amazing as usual. But that is only a part of the story. The variety is incredible. There are rubber dominatrix boots, waist-defining belts in patent leather, peaked caps in the manner of Charlotte Rampling in the movie The Night Porter. There have been bags affixed to the model’s wrist with a diamond handcuffs. This time you have crocodile leather handcuff bracelets. Marc gives the credit for the fetish idea to a conversation he had with LVMH’s Bernard Arnault about women’s inexplicable obsession with bags.
If you go through the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011 accessories you will find a series of things you can be obsessed about. The 1958 top-handle Lockit bag has been reinterpreted this season. Jacobs has the ability to produce design in numbers and still create something that provokes you. Lockits come in various shapes including top handles and a few framed clutches. The clutches feature a unique horizontal handle and black trims. The key holder which is called clochette in the industry parlance is an interesting addition to the bags.
