The Lehman Brothers are infamous for holding the record for the largest bankruptcy filing in the history of USA. In fact it was the fall of Lehman Brothers in 2008 that triggered the global economic meltdown. The volume and the number of creditors are so large that the process of salvaging funds from assets to pay back the creditors is still going on. And from the looks of it  the process will definitely go on for some time.
In all this there is an opportunity for the people at large to own a piece of this failed banking powerhouse. Next month the art works that adorned the office of Lehman Brothers in London and other European Cities will be auctioned. It is an opportunity for art lovers to bid for works of artists like Lucian Freud, Gary Hume and many post war and contemporary pieces. The sign that adorned the company office in London’s Canary Wharf financial district will also go under the hammer.
The auction to be held at Christie’s auction hose has been scheduled for 29th of September to coincide with the 2nd anniversary of the administration. The auction is expected to raise $3.8 million. In fact a similar auction of about 450 pieces of contemporary art owned by Lehman in US will also be held on the 25th of September and is expected to raise $10 million approximately.
