Land Rover has come together with security specialists Centigon and announced the new Discovery 4 Armored vehicle. They realized that in the current scenario of global threat of terrorism, there is a segment of the market that is living between luxury and danger. This vehicle, they hope will address that demand. It will provide the luxury of the Land Rover but additionally have protective features that will guarantee your safety against the threat perception you may have.
The protective features of the armored vehicle includes ballistic steel plates for high-velocity ballistics as well as blast protection against 15 kg of TNT, or its equivalent, and under floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades. The Discovery 4 Armored also comes with heavy wheels and run-flat tires. Even with the protective outfitting adding considerably to the weight of the vehicle the payload capacity is maintained at 500kg.
To maintain the high performance level associated with Land Rover the engine has been upgraded with a 5.0 liter LR-V8 petrol engine over the previous 2.7 liter V6 diesel. The all-wheel drive Discovery 4 Armored is also fitted with a Terrain Response System which has various settings that adapt to most types of surfaces such as mud, grass or rocks.
