Jim Norton, the owner of the mansion on a four acre estate that featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 film “The Godfather”, has listed the property for sale. The asking price is a whopping $2.9 million. The film based on a novel by Mario Puzo was shot extensively on this location. In fact the opening scene of the film is at the iconic estate where Don Corleone accepts requests for favors during the wedding reception of his daughter.
Jim Norton said he put the eight-bedroom, five-bathroom Staten Island home on the market after his father recently passed away. The estate features a four-car garage, two fireplaces, an English pub and an in-ground swimming pool. Norton said that his mother had collected behind-the-scenes mementos from the film, including pictures and autographs from cast and crew members.
Connie Profaci is the realtor who is handling the sale. He had a lot of nuggets about the property. He said that the location was suggested by Gianni Russo who is a neighbor and starred in the film as Corleone’s son in law. His family lived nearby and was familiar with the estate. Paramount producer Al Ruddy liked the location and agreed and the rest as they say is history.
