A name like Karl Lagerfeld needs no introduction. The German fashion designer, artist and photographer is also the owner of Italian House Fendi and has had his name associated with a plethora of fashion and art related projects. There are now news that he has a new project up his sleeve which doesn’t have anything to do with Chanel. The fashion baron will be the guest editor for the global freesheet Metro. The same magazine whose presence is felt everywhere be it seats and floors of many a public transport carriage the length and breadth of England and other countries.
We had earlier seen Lady Gaga guest editing the May issue of Metro. Karl Lagerfeld will spend a day in the Paris newsroom, supplying illustrations and commentary for its The World According to Karl edition. He has conceded that he loves daily papers and thinks it would be fun to be a part of one of them just for the day. Given the reach of Metro, the fun of working with such a global piece adds to the excitement. This special issue of Metro will be for the Fashion Week and run in as much as 100 cities in 22 countries. The newspaper is known to have a daily readership of more than 17 million people globally.
Karl Lagerfeld isn’t the only one who is stepping into journalism. Naomi Campbell too will be seen as editor-at-large for both the Russian and German versions of Interview magazine. With the Metro, The London Evening Standard will actually be running all of the Karl Lagerfeld guest edited editorial that day, so don’t miss that as well.
