Jcp.com Offers the “Virtual Dressing Room” Experience to Online Shoppers

Earlier shopping for clothes online had a disadvantage, you could not try the dresses in order to decide which one to buy. But now online shopping has an advantage. A new computer application makes it possible for the consumer to try out the clothes and even share it with friends online to take their suggestion before making a decision to buy. This new shopping application is exclusively sponsored by J C Penney.

This new “Virtual Dressing Room” enables consumers to try on clothes on their site jcp.com right from the comfort of their home. Hearst Magazines Digital Media and metaio, a leader in augmented reality applications made the announcement about the augmented reality shopping experience on seventeen.com.

“The application is a true breakthrough in online product visualization, as clothes are automatically overlaid on the consumer’s real-time video image through their webcam,” said Kristine Welker, Vice President of sales and marketing for Hearst Magazines Digital Media. You can see your self in the dress of your choice and share the image with your friends online and discuss how the dress will look on you. If you have to go to a store you can not take all your friends with you to know their opinion about a particular dress. You can even keep two or more images together and compare before buying the stuff from jcp.com.
