When New York hotelier Ian Schrager announces his plans to begin new projects, the world sits up and takes notice. This is simply because the 64-year-old hotelier has been associated with some of the most popular and luxurious hotels in the past. It came as a surprise to many when he decided to sell his share in the Gramercy Park Hotel, but he himself admitted that it was on offer he just could not decline.
Talking about his plans of building new hotels, Mr Schrager informed that he was all set to build two hotel chains – one ultra-luxe and bearing his trademark finesse, and the other a more affordable, pretense-free yet stylish chain of hotels. He plans to begin with renovating and re-launching the Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago.
With his plans in place, Mr Schrager is just waiting for the right moment and opportunity to begin his projects. He has already zeroed in on some locations in London, Miami and Los Angeles. If all goes well, his hotels will be ready in a few years and the guests will be treated to some super luxuries comfort at the best of hotels. You will be able to choose from the ultra plush hotels or the trendy, up-market, no-nonsense hotels that Mr Schrager will build shortly.
