Ian Schrager, from the past 30 years has created worth remembering hotels such as the Delano, Mondrian, Gramercy Park in Miami Beach, Los Angeles and New York respectively, now launches a new property in Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago.
Luxury hotel pioneer, Ian Schrager launching a hotel chain in Chicago, has brought the hotel industry again into activity and prominence. The boutique hotel  was created in 1984 launching  Morgans Hotel New York, now has been  working on the brand ‘Public’ which was launched on May 23, combining both boutique properties and luxury with limited service, and goal of affordable chain which is contrast to Edition. The public claims the rate of rooms to be lower comparatively to the other properties of Ian Schrager with focus on essentials. The property is launched in the former Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago.
The Public offers great service for less expense featuring great design, and an exciting beverage and food concept. The Public would be the first one in a chain of boutique hotels throughout the country. The first one was the Edition with Marriott International while the public is Schrager’s second try to create a new chain of boutique.
Schrager has got in his possession the Ambassador East in 2010 for twenty five million dollars from a locally based hospitality investment firm called the Harp Group, and he has spent thirty five dollars on renovation. The Public has thirty percent of suites out of 285 rooms. The starting rate is $135 per night, really much lower for luxury market of downtown Chicago. The reasonably priced, comfortable and relaxed hotel features restaurants, nightclubs, and bars which are for everyone, not as his earlier concepts of boutiques with exclusivity. The newest hotel has revamped its Public website.
