The British aircraft carrier HMS Invincible served remarkably well  the Royal Navy from 1973 to 2005. The Ministry of Defence, after decommissioning the aircraft carrier, is putting it up for sale. They hope to raise £2 million ($3.1 million) through its sale on edisposals which is a government equivalent of eBay. The aircraft carrier that served the Royal Navy for 32 long years had participated, during its distinguished career, in the Falklands, Balkans and Iraq wars.
The 700 feet long, 17,000 ton aircraft carrier could become the best holiday spot this season if you can spare the £2 million ($3.1 million). HMS Invincible has been listed on the Disposal Service Authority website along with several other old Defence Force equipment, camo pants and ammo boxes. In its days of glory, the vessel was manned by over 1,000 crew members who piloted the ship’s two dozen aircrafts, sometimes as far as 7,000 nautical miles away from home.
The majestic ship was built at Barrow-in-Furness by Vickers Ship Building and Engineering and cost a little over a quarter billion dollars. In its heyday the ship was powered by four Rolls-Royce gas turbine engines, could reach a top speed of 28 knots, and had a range of 7,000 nautical miles.
