Michigan based Woodchuck and company can surprise you with their craftsmanship and mastery over giving incredible shapes to a piece of wood. Could you ever imagine that a heavy construction machinery like a Caterpillar 5230B Excavator could ever be replicated completely in wood and that also to its last detail? But what the art studio of Woodchuck and company has produced is not just a wooden model of Caterpillar Excavator, but a piece of art and definitely a wooden sculpture.
It is difficult to imagine, how a piece of heavy equipment can inspire you to do such an artistic job. The attention to detail has to be seen to be believed. The team at the art studio has not just made a highly detailed model but a semi working replica of the excavator. The model has been reproduced in 1/16th scale. There are a total of 4,000 independent pieces that have been individually handcrafted to create a unique model. Only solid cherry and chestnut wood has been used to create the model.
As you can imagine, it was not a simple job that the studio had taken up. The model took a total of 3,000 man hours over a period of 1.5 years to create. It was a major project for the studio and the final result justifies the time and energy invested in it. The wooden model is a collector’s item and is up for sale now at a price of $35,900. The unique model is available for purchase on Etsy but only one piece has been made. However the studio at Woodchuck and company is open to taking orders for custom models.
