Fashion and food share an uneasy relationship. The fashion industry’s obsession with being slim and calorie counting ensures that high-calorie foods stay far, far away. After all, you cannot reach your size zero goal if you are constantly snacking on rich, feel-good desserts. However, a new collaboration could change all that.
It is an unusual tie-up, but Glamour Magazine UK has commissioned Krispy Kreme UK to create, of all things, a bespoke collection of doughnuts in time for London Fashion Week when it kicks off next month. The Krispy Kreme chain is famous for its doughnuts and coffees, so the choice is right. Krispy Kreme has come up with two new high-fashion flavors in its Glamour Glaze doughnut collection – a glossy pink strawberry glaze doughnut and a high-on-gloss orange doughnut. But I am not sure how many weight-watching fashionistas will try these high-calorie snacks.
Actually, the Strawberry Glaze version was launched earlier on this year to mark a special occasion for Glamour Magazine UK – the magazine’s 10th anniversary. The Orange Glaze doughnut has more to do with the upcoming color of the season. Many fashion analysts and industry watchers have pegged orange as the “it” color for upcoming Fall/Winter collections.
This is a limited edition line, so get a taste while you can. Glamour Magazine UK editor Jo Elvin has called these a “must-have” for the London Fashion Week. These high-fashion doughnuts will be available at Krispy Kreme stores across the UK from 29 August to 2 October. These luxury doughnuts cost £1.35 per piece. But you can get a stylish black box filled with a dozen doughnuts for £9.45.
