The last time I encountered Fenice Milano, I was drooling over their 50,000-euro La Dolce Vita Gold and Diamonds 200hp – a car that any tycoon with an embarrassment of riches would be proud to own. This time around, Italian tuning firm Fenice Milano is moving out of their comfort zone of automobiles. The Italian group’s latest project is a luxury yacht that comes fitted with an integrated catamaran. Developed in association with TCI Italian Style, Fenice Milano’s new baby is the DIAMOND 44.
The DIAMOND 44 is basically two boats in one. Both the sea craft – the yacht and the catamaran – are built out of wood that comes with a RINA certification. This guarantees that the wood will last a good 70 years even with exposure to water, glass fibers, kevlar, carbon, epoxy resins and space-age adhesives.
The catamaran, which comes fitted with electric propulsion and / or a 14-foot sail, will occupy two hangars in the stern area of this Fenice Milano yacht. When the catamaran is inside, it will make for a nice swim platform. However, the DIAMOND 44 from Fenice Milano is also available with a pair of cool Kawasaki jet skis.
Volvo Penta IPS engines will run the wood and composite luxury yacht. This would be a first for the luxury yacht industry. Of course, this is not the first time that Fenice Milano is experimenting with watercraft. In February this year, the tuning firm had launched the Lamborghini yacht. There is no news yet regarding how much the DIAMOND 44 might cost. But going by the Italian firm’s track record, it’s bound to have an extravagant price tag.
