It was the right platform. In fact most-appropriate one! Yah I am talking about Art Basel Miami and Design Miami events that happened last weekend. It was an open opportunity for gamut of designers and design houses globally to flaunt their works and cash upon their limited-edition pieces. And to my non-surprise the prospects were wittingly picked by Belgian design firm Studio Job that fetched $700,000 for the sale of a limited edition suite of five pieces known as Robber Baron.
The elegant furniture was sold to a private collector within the first hour of the show. Custom-built by owner Murray Moss, the suite is made up of polished cast-bronze fittings, counting a cupboard with a hollowed-out bomb crater and a jewel safe with a jack-in-the-box. The brochure lying with Moss discloses that it is one of the riff on “the contemptible excess of America’s 19th century moguls and Russia’s new oligarchs.”
