Ducati Releases the Ultimate Bike 1199 Superleggera for $90,000

The Italian motorcycle company Ducati is known for making exclusive motorcycles but they have now come up with what can be called the ultimate motorcycle. The limited edition design has been named Ducati 1199 Superleggera which literally translated would mean super light. The new bike is basically an upgraded version of Ducati’s earlier sport bike 1199 Panigale. The designers and engineers at Ducati started with their existing bike and simply upgraded everything. They removed the frame and replaced it with a magnesium monocoque. The body panels and the rear sub frame were also recreated with carbon fiber. The exhaust and the bolts used in the new bike have been made in titanium.

The New Bike Has the Highest Power to Weight Ratio

All the material and the parts used in the super bike are the best. The shocks are supplied by Ohblins and the brakes by Brembo. The drive chain in the new Ducati bike has been taken from their proven World Superbike racing program. All these upgrades have not only improved the bike in terms of looks and strength but have cut down its weight by 27 pounds. The reduction in weight has made it the bike with the highest power to weight ratio. The bike now weighs 341 pounds and it is powered by a 1198cc L-twin engine with four-valve cylinder heads which has been used for the first time on any street legal Ducati.

Majority of the 500 Units to be Produced Has Been Pre Sold

The powerful engine generates 200 horsepower and 98.8 pound-feet of torque. People who would like to race the bike on a race track can use the Race Kit that trims an extra 5.5 pounds off the curb weight and provides an extra five horsepower of kick. The Ducati 1199 Superleggera is an impressive bike in every aspect and every bike lover would like to have one. But the heavy price tag of $90,000 would make it unaffordable for a lot of people. And all the people with the required money also might not be able to own the super bike as only 500 units have been planned for production out of which a majority has been presold existing Ducati owners.
