There is a new high-end watering hole at the Montage Beverly Hills. The luxury hotel that stands at the Golden Triangle near Rodeo Drive is offering a swank new lounge. The name is £10 (Ten Pound), but don’t let that put you off. The lounge is as exclusive as they come. And while you do get £10 drinks, guests can enjoy a shot of the world’s most expensive whisky.
Last year, I remember balking at the idea of paying £9,000 (about $13,450) for a bottle of London’s most expensive whisky. However, that is peanuts compared to the costliest spirit on offer at £10. Priced at $60,000 for a single shot, The Macallan 64 Years Old single malt is one of the most expensive spirits in the world.
Then again, there are more affordable options. After all, the lounge is named after a Scottish ten pound note that features a depiction of the antique copper stills of the landmark The Macallan distillery. Bargain seekers are sure to order numerous servings of The Macallan 12 Years Old single malt, which costs 10 Scottish pounds (about $16) per glass.
£10 is also the only official outlet in the United States to serve The Macallan’s famous malts. However, the lounge offers a range of other spirits including wines and Champagnes from Krug. Guests can also snack on special gourmet treats from the acclaimed Scarpetta Beverly Hills restaurant. Try the osetra royal caviar or a selection of fine cheeses.
The dark wood paneling creates a chic and cozy ambience. However, guests will have to confirm their reservations in advance. There is a minimum alcohol charge of $50 per person. £10 will also be available to guests for exclusive private events and special tastings.
