“Blue Diamond,” an 8ft (2.5m) wood stainless steel sculpture is a part of a series of diverse tinted statuettes carved by US artist Jeff Koons. Made up of refined steel and chromium, this diamond sculpture would be a part of the “Post-war and contemporary art” sale scheduled at Christie’s auction house on 13 November.
It is expected to raise $12mn when it would be set for auction in November at Christie’s auction house. Right there, Elizabeth Taylor portrait by Andy Warhol is expected to fetch $25m. Out of the four versions of the diamond, the red, green and pink sculptures are in confidential custody and a yellow on is presently in under the process of fabrication.
If Blue Diamond manages to retain its guesstimate, it would be reaching its two-fold mark against its most expensive sales at his auction of Michael Jackson’s sculpture along with his pet monkey Bubbles that generated a sales of $5.6mn in 2001.
“20th-Century Design”
Around 26 September, Christie’s International block in New York would be populated with the medley of elegant antediluvian and modern furnishings estimated to generate sales of $3 million.
This private sale labeled as “An Important Private Collection of Mid- 20th Century Design,” organized by an unidentified collector aims at offering affordable products.
A real record breaking auction was of Warhol’s Green Car Crash (Green Burning Car I) that earned a a bulky sum of $71.7mn to the artist in the beginning of this year.
