For UK based Diageo, the world’s leading maker of alcoholic drinks, there is no parallel to the Scottish giant. Diageo the world’s biggest distiller features a blend of whiskies distilled in 1952 at various distilleries across Scotland. It has been finished in a cask oak trees grown at Sandringham estate owned by royal family, where there is a house which belonged to them.
John Walker & Sons’ presents the Diamond Jubilee Blended Scotch Whisky in a lead crystal decanter. Its silver collar is decorated by hand engraved half a carat diamond, with individually numbered seal. Along with a pair of hand-engraved lead crystal glasses and leather bound artefact book, all are accommodated in a bespoke wood cabinet. The first bottle will be gifted to the queen, later for private people.
These bespoke pieces are of collective skill, and craftsmanship to create one of its kind editions. This rare edition displayed only among invitees, and will be sold privately at £100,000 each. All the sale proceeds would be donated by John Walker & Sons to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, to encourage traditional craftsmanship, and tutoring programmes.
Extraordinarily slowly matured grain and malt whiskeys since 1952 with the experienced craftsmanship of John Walker & Sons blend are of limited edition of 60 pieces will be bottled on 6th February 2012. Exactly 60 years ago, this day the queen had ascended the throne. Perhaps, you should go to London and meet the queen and try and take a few swigs with her. If she refuses to meet you, you could always gulp your whiskey along the Thames.
