The operators of Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas have announced that they will be marketing the $3.9 billion hotel-casino with Marriott International, as part of the international lodging chain’s Autograph Collection, which is includes independent luxury hotels and resorts. This will help the Cosmopolitan to make use of the Marriott database that is supposed to be one of the largest consumer database in the industry.
The Marriott on the other hand will also gain. “Marriott has been looking for some time for an iconic property in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and the Cosmopolitan … will draw the world’s top customers year-round,” said J.W. Marriott Jr., chairman and CEO of Marriott International. The construction on the Cosmopolitan has been going on for a while but was delayed to some financial glitches. But it will finally open in December. Deutsche Bank has owned the Cosmopolitan since 2008, when the original developer Bruce Eichner defaulted.
This massive property boasts of 150,000 square-foot casino, hotel, 13 restaurants and vendors and is expected to provide some 5,200 jobs. The work on its casino is still going on, but according to reports, the work on the rooms is complete. Hopefully this partnership between Cosmopolitan and Marriott will be a fruitful one.
