Tory William Hague Enjoys £1,500 a night Luxury Break as Common Man Struggles

The fundamentals of the British economy are weak. The data show that the UK economy is struggling to grow. The government has decided to take unpopular strong steps and introduce swinging cuts to improve the situation. UK families are under huge financial strain and Prime Minister Cameron, as a policy had decided that he and his colleagues will put up a show of solidarity with the common man and not indulge in any ostentatious expenditure. But his foreign secretary Tory William Hague, who has been called a serial blunderer by some, blundered again and took a luxury holiday with his wife costing him £1,500 a night.

Mr. Hague and his wife Ffion flew club class to Naples on a three day ‘beyond luxury’ itinerary put together specially for them by travel firm Elegant Resorts. The Hagues were met by a limousine for the 50 miles ride to the Amalfi coast which is the favorite haunt of the super rich. They checked into hotel Palazzo Sasso which is a five star ultra luxury property, perched 1,000 feet above the Mediterranean in the hilltop village of Ravello. The suite they had chosen cost them £1,500 a night and had its own private terrace. The Hagues ate a sumptuous eight-course banquet in the hotel’s £130-a-head restaurant, which has two Michelin stars.

After two days luxurious vacation the couple was chauffeur driven to Rome in a British Government car to the official residence of the British ambassador which is a stately home set in 11 acres of grounds. The foreign secretary was invited by the Italian Government to participate in the event marking 150 years of Italian unification. As a contrast Prime Minister Cameron had made a point of flying to Ibiza on budget airline easyJet last weekend with his family. The critics of the party and the government said that it showed poor judgment on the part of the foreign secretary. Such lavish holidays highlight the pathetic condition of the British economy.
