Christie’s has taken up a special endeavour. The famous auction house’s gallery outpost Haunch of Venison has decided to host a very special benefit called The Time In Children’s Arts Initiative. This one is a HiArt! outreach programs that is trageted at bringing an arts-inspired curriculum to t-risk school kids. Wow, now that’s some serious arty thinking and a good one at that too!
The event has gathered the support and participation of several individual artists all over the city who have donated many of their works to the auction to raise the much-required money. As part of the same program, they even gave Harlem kindergarteners and first graders in art a chance to sketch in HiArt! studios or in musems and galleries all across the city. We are talking about New York here.
HOV’s current solo artist, Brian Alfred, has given a commissioned painting to the show (the picture above). It has been valued at a neat $7,500. Among other highlights, you can see a Josh Dorman collage, the commercially unavailable TED 2009 DVD Archive as well as a personal voicemail from actor High Jackman (we have a feeling that ‘Srubs’ Dr. Cox might wanna pass on the last one).
