Rustan Commercial Corporation (RCC) was established by former Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco Senior along with his late wife Gliceria Rustia Tantoco on San Marcelino Street in Manila almost 60 years ago. Dubbed as the “Father of Luxury Retailing,†he was recently honoured by the Philippine Retailers’ Association (PRA) with the PRA President’s award for his trailblazing contributions to the local retail industry. The patriarch and Chairman of RCC is credited for introducing Filipino shoppers to new levels of beauty, quality and sophistication.
The Philippine Retailers’ Association, during its search for outstanding Filipino retailers, held at the grand ballroom of Crowne Plaza, handed out a number of awards to outstanding members. A number of outstanding regional and Metro Manila based shopping centres were mentioned for their remarkable service. The French Baker, Goldilocks, Our Home, Toy Kingdom, Memo, Flawless, Leona’s and Bench Body were the retailers who were honoured with awards.
PRA President and Golden ABC CEO Bernie Liu, presented the award to Tantoco. While presenting the award Liu said, “He, together with his wife, would travel the world and get the best of what it has to offer, and present them to the country’s lifestyle icons and the rest of us Filipinos who appreciate beauty and sophistication.â€
