Baselworld 2011: Hermes Presents Arceau Le Temps Suspendu watch on Opening Day

Hermes, after successfully defending its autonomy against a hostile bid by LVMH has upped its ante and become more active than before. They were in focus on the opening day of the Baselworld presenting their new Arceau Le Temps Suspendu watch.  CEO of La Montre Hermès,Luc Perramond did the honors and highlighted the journey of the Arceau wristwatch, which was originally imagined by Henri d’Origny in 1978.

On the way, two creations were particularly outstanding, the Grand Arceau Moon Phase and the Arceau Pocket Promenade de Longchamp. A completely new module has been developed in collaboration with Agenhor, Geneva and its founder Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, for the new Arceau watch. The avant-garde watch comes with a Swiss made automatic movement but what makes this watch very different is the amazing 360° hour and minute retrograde system.

A pushbutton allows the starting and stopping of the hands, in a way suspending time but the mechanism continues undisturbed keeping the standard time. The watch has been released in a limited edition of 174 pieces in rose gold. The case has been made out of 79gms of 18ct rose gold. The glass is anti glare sapphire crystal. For the strap you have a choice of Matt Havana or black Alligator with a folding safety clasp in rose gold or steel.
