Indian movie buffs are in for a treat at the newly opened Director’s Cut. Launched in Delhi by PVR Ltd., the theater is dedicated to providing the ultimate luxury movie experience. If you thought Gold Class Seats were the best thing in the movie experience, this new luxury movie watching experience promises to transform your views. Director’s Cut is home to four luxury movie halls, plus a café, a restaurant (with a top-class bar) and a book and souvenir store. The sweet-toothed can head to the patisserie for some delicious bakes. Ajay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director of PVR Ltd., described this as “a step up” from the concept of Gold Class cinema. Bijli said, “We are movie buffs and we thought that why don’t we stretch the limit.”
The restaurant and café are largely designed to allow movie watchers to sit around and discuss cinema. The bookstore adds to the whole experience. What is really appealing is that the restaurant, café and stores will be open to even those customers who have not come in to watch a movie.
The smallest of the four auditoriums will accommodate 25 people. In all, there is space for about 282 movie watchers. The auditoriums will be available for private bookings, and moviegoers can select from a menu of 300 movies. The experience is truly luxurious, with full recliner seating, full 3D capability and the option of hailing a waiter even during a movie. Food put-together by world-class chefs is another plus.
Of course, all this will cost. Ticket prices range from Rs 600 to Rs 1,050. Even your popcorn will cost Rs 120-130. As for the restaurant, a meal for two will set you back by Rs 2,000.
