Independence is no ordinary yacht. It is a 58 meter super yacht. It is a product of three Monaco based organizations who are leaders in their fields and have given their inputs to come up with a product that is perhaps the best in its category. Sterling / Scott Yacht Design, Edmiston, the leading super yacht broker, Sky Group/Monacair, the leading operator of yacht based helicopters, and McFarlane ShipDesign, providing innovative technical support have all come together bringing their specialized expertise to the table and creating a 58 meter helicopter support yacht that has a fully operational aviation standard Heli hangar.
Sterling/ Scott have been responsible for the operational aspect of the design along with the exterior style lines. Evolution Yachts will be building it in Australia, based on a proven commercial hull design. They have long and rich experience in ship building and hope to deliver the first yacht in 18 months.
Independence will need 14 crew to run it. Independence can carry a large helicopter and support a busy mother ship. Independence not only provides maintenance facility for a helicopter but a lot of extra storage and tankage. It will also have 130 sq. meter of deck space. It has a top speed of 18 knots and a transatlantic range at 14 knots.
