One of the most names in the U.S automobile industry, Chrysler, in the year 1954 went to the drawing boards and came out with a stunning concept car, the 1954 Dodge Firearrow III that carried incredible engineering specifications such as space materials. Another reason for such glory of the Firearrow III was the fact that this vehicle claimed the first position at the 1954 Indianapolis 500 race, driven by a female driver, Betty Skelton. Now, this historic and remarkable car is going up for auction, courtesy RM Auctions, a name that has made available some of the most gorgeous vehicles of the yester years with its auction. The Dodge Firearrow III will be put under the hammer at the Pebble Beach Auctions and the car is expected to fetch a stunning $1 million or even higher.
The iconic 1954 Dodge Firearrow III was powered by a pumping V8 engine that came along with 4-barrel carburetor, producing an impressive 150hp and the vehicle achieved and astonishing max speed of 143.44 mph under the able hands of Ms. Skelton. The Firearrow III came with an automatic transmission and was fitted with state of the parts of that time such as independent front suspension, semi-epileptic springs and safe-guard hydraulic brakes. This magnificent vintage car was later restored by Fran Roxas, who focused his attention on the car’s classic and striking Opal Blue metallic paint job. The 1954 Dodge Firearrow III was designed by the legendary automotive designer and engineer, Luigi Segre of Italy and the entire design and development was overseen by Virgil Exner.
