One&Only Resorts have a portfolio of resorts in some of the most beautiful locales in the world. Each property has been developed to have a distinct personality representing the local culture. One&Only Cape Town is their luxury resort in South Africa. It is one of their best properties as it offers stunning views of Table Mountain. The other key highlight of the resort is the eye catching art installations all over the property. The luxury resort is is launching a series of half- and full-day art tours for guests.
One&Only Cape Town Association with Art and Artists
Cape Town has been designated as World Design Capital for 2014. It is an initiative by International Council of Societies of Industrial design that celebrates the accomplishments of cities that have used design as a tool to reinvent themselves and improve social, cultural and economic life. These art tours also seem to be aligned to this initiative. The Cape Town resort itself has a lot to see in terms of original art as One&Only Cape Town had got the design guru Adam Tihany to do the resort’s interiors. In fact he had commissioned South African artists to create installations for the resort. He even created a branch of the Goodman Gallery on the mezzanine level of the hotel.
The Art Tours are Carefully Curated
The two art tours offered by the resort are carefully curated. The first one is the Galleries Art Tour. The guests would have the benefit of the services of an art expert who will guide them through Cape Town’s most inspiring art galleries, including the Irma Stern Museum, Everard Read’s waterfront art space and the innovative What if the World Gallery. The second package is called the Contemporary Art Tour. This tour is more interactive. It starts at The Foundry where the guests will have an opportunity to chat with the metalworkers, sculptors and jewelers who craft there. They can visit shop or studios and meet the artists. The tour will end with a visit to the Kalk Bay artist’s district. The half day tours start at $385 and the full day tours begin at $545.
