Ralph Lauren is a fashion house with huge brand equity and they are perfectly justified in trying to cash in on it by making watches as well. They are in a partnership with Richemont for their watches. But they have not found the going easy in watches as they are yet to be taken seriously as a watchmaker. Consumers who are willing to spend big money on a watch generally prefer to go for a brand that only makes watches and there are big names in the industry that are only making watches for over a century now.
Ralph Lauren watches hasn’t given up but has been working consistently on improving the design and creating a better product. Their new Sporting Chronograph Black Ceramic does seem to be the watch that looks and feels better. The all matte black ceramic case has come out very well and they might not have bettered the others but are as good as the best. It is lighter than steel and totally scratch resistant. The watches will finally come out with a black tinted sapphire crystal on the back.
The slick watch with the all ceramic finish has the classic sporting equipment look. The only thing that seems to be out of place is the RL logo placed on the crown and bracelet clasp. The watch is being offered in two sizes of 39mm and 45mm width. The watches come with an automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre chronograph movement. The two models have been priced at $5.500 and $6,400.
