Hublot Brings out Limited Edition Sledges

Hublot is known for making one of the best watches in the world. If someone would have asked me what other products the company would venture into, I would never have guessed sledges! Yes, Hublot’s CEO Jean-Claude Biver and Director of ECAL, the University of Art and Design Lausanne, Pierre Keller together unveiled the “Hublot Sledge”. Limited to just 10 pieces, this apparently isn’t the first sporting gear Hublot has manufactured.

In collaboration with Grison-based company Zai and bicycle manufacturer BMC, they came up with Hublot skis and Hublot All Black Bike as well. Remaining true to the reputation of the high level of technology displayed in Hubot watches, this Sledge is no exception and combines ash wood for the structure, hand-sewn leather for the seat, carbon fibre for the handles and steel for the runners. The prototype was made with the help of Graf, a company from Thurgovie. This design is fast, stable, manoeuvrable, and looks great too.

Hublot also collaborated with ECAL, the Lausanne University of Art and Design’s Masters in Luxury Design and Industry department, which offers design tuition in partnership with companies from the luxury sector including Hublot. The main designed was created by Philippe-Albert Lefebvre of the 2009/2010 batch.
