When thinking of timeless beauties, Audrey Hepburn will always top the list. This extremely talented actress continuous to live in our memories thanks to her inimitable style and goodness of heart. And now her true fans can actually try on her legendary style at a forthcoming sale by Kerry Taylor Auction that will be selling some 36 items of clothing from her wardrobe that date from 1953 to the late 60s. So you can well expect the hats, belts and all the snazzy accessories.
A little birdie tell us that Audrey was fond of giving away all her unwanted clothes to close friend Tanja Star-Busman. It is these very clothes, among a few others, that you will find in the auction. Items up for sale include a Givenchy-designed black cloqué silk gown that Audrey wore for the film ‘Paris When it Sizzles’ in 1962, at an estimated price of £10-15,000. Even the Chantilly lace cocktail gown that she wore in ‘How to Steal a Million’ is gaining a lot of attention all over again. This one goes for a higher price bracket £10-20,000.
But truly, the highlight of the event will indeed be the ivory satin bridal gown that was made for Audrey by the extremely talented Fontana sisters for the actress’ planned wedding to James Hanson. When the wedding was called off, Audrey decided to give the dress to a poor and beautiful Italian woman who could never afford such a dress. Finally, it was passed on to Amabile Altobella. The price tag falls near £12,000. 50 per cent of the proceeds will go to The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund.
